Now starting prices and powertrain information
BMW iX
The new BMW iX SUV will be in the showroom at the end of this year. This flagship of the German brand offers the latest technology, but BMW has also pulled out all the stops in terms of sustainability. We have information about the drivetrain and the prices.
BMW announces the market launch of the iX. This new electric SUV will be available for sale in two variants at the end of 2021. The iX xDrive40 has a battery with more than 70 kWh capacity and is available from 86,972 euros. According to the WLTP test, this BMW has a range of over 400 km. The battery of its brother iX xDrive50 is good for more than 100 kWh. That provides a range of over 600 km. You order this iX variant from 105,472 euros.
The average measured power consumption is between 19.5 and 22.5 kWh / 100 km. DC fast charging is possible up to 150 kW – with the xDrive50 even up to 200 kW – so that the high-voltage battery can be charged up to 80 percent within 40 minutes. There is an electric motor on the front and one on the rear axle. Together they supply the ‘xDrive’ four-wheel drive. If the system power of the iX xDrive40 with 300 hp is not wrong, the 500 hp of the xDrive50 accelerates the iX from standstill to 100 km / h in less than 5 seconds.

Sustainable production and mobility
For BMW, the iX marks a new phase of mobility. The car is on a new modular platform. The design is tighter than we are used to from BMW, in the minimalist interior, the well-being of the occupants is paramount and the latest innovations (5G connectivity, automated driving, etc.) are present. Just as important to BMW is the sustainability of the production and mobility of the iX.
The brand claims that the iX “over a distance of 200,000 km contributes about 45 percent less to global warming than a Sports Activity Vehicle with a comparable diesel engine.” No rare earth metals are needed for the production, the minerals for the batteries come from controlled sources, solar power is used. With a similar price to a fuel-powered X5, the choice should be easy, right?
