BMW will soon be launching an M3 Touring for the first time. The bloody fast station wagon will take a while, but you can already glimpse it.
Last summer there was good news for fans of very fast station wagons. For the first time in its existence, BMW is also sending the 3-series Touring along the M-department to turn it into a genuine M3 Touring. Where competitors Audi and Mercedes-Benz already offer their fastest mid-sized cars as Avant and Estate respectively, BMW always relied on the sedan.
In a video in which BMW shows its current M versions, we suddenly see a man quietly reading a newspaper, leaning against the M3 Touring. After the earlier teaser, it is the sharpest image there is of the M3 Touring. The M3 Touring is not to be missed if you drive behind it; the considerably extended rear bumper is arranged differently than usual with two vertically placed reflectors and a diffuser that protrudes considerably backwards. If you still don’t recognize it, the four exhausts will take care of that.
As with the regular M3, the rumble of a 480 hp and 550 Nm of blown 3.0 six-in-line can be heard. With the M3 Competition, the same block even produces 510 hp and 650 Nm. Whoever signs for the first, switches himself by means of a manual six-speed gearbox. The Competition does it for you with an eight-speed M Steptronic automatic transmission. All the violence goes to the rear wheels, although M xDrive all-wheel drive will also be available next summer. Now the question is how fast the M3 Touring will be. The sedan only needs 4.2 seconds to shoot to 100 km / h. The M3 Competition does the same in 3.9 seconds. We will undoubtedly hear more soon, because the reveal does not seem to be long in coming now.
