BMW Motorrad has issued a recall for the new electric CE 04. The horn may not be properly secured and could become loose, which could severely limit steering angle.

BMW recalls CE 04 because horn can vibrate loose

On August 22, BMW Motorrad was informed of an accident in Germany involving a CE 04 electric motor scooter. The report stated that the steering gear may have been blocked and the rider had lost control of the motorcycle, resulting in a crash. The incident was immediately analysed.

That analysis showed that the steering system had become blocked because the horn had partly come loose. It turned out that the bolt with which the horn was attached was not of sufficient length. Further investigation revealed that the suspension on other CE 04 models had the same problem.

At the BMW Motorrad dealer, the horn will be disassembled and reattached with a bolt of the correct length.
