BMW sales figures up 10 percent

BMW sold 585,336 cars worldwide in the third quarter, an increase of 9.8 percent from the same period a year earlier. The group as a whole, which also includes the Mini and Rolls-Royce brands, sold 8.6 percent more vehicles, the group said on Wednesday.

This brought the sales of the BMW Group in the past quarter to 675,680 units. Measured up to and including September, the counter now stands at more than 1.63 million copies, a drop of 12.5 percent compared to last year.

All brands recorded higher sales in the third quarter. As mentioned, BMW grew by 8.6 percent and Mini and Rolls-Royce by 1.9 and 54 percent respectively. The BMW Group sold more cars, especially in Germany and China.

The past quarter was a good period for the group’s electrified models, ie cars with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and all-electric models. Of these, 54,719 were registered in the third quarter, an increase of 46.6 percent. Up to and including September, sales of certified BMWs and Minis increased by 20 percent to 116,381 units.
