BMW X7 facelift on the way

The BMW X7 has only been around for two years, but the facelift version is already on the way. The car is still firmly taped, but seems to be undergoing major changes, especially at the front.

A Life Cycle Impulse (LCI), as the brand calls its facelifts, is usually of a modest nature at BMW. Modernized light units, a new infotainment system and some other detail differences were usually enough in the past to extend the life of a model by a few years.

The X7 seems to be more rigorous to work. The nose of this copy is firmly taped, but a completely new layout is shining through. The headlights seem to distance themselves from the edge of the hood, where they are now directly underneath. This suggests that the lighting is being cut in half, as appears to be the case with the upcoming X8. However, it could also be a diversion. The light unit mounted on the test car is certainly not the definitive one, but a set of apparently universal headlight units that temporarily serve in the early phase of the test work.

The grille, without doubt the most striking part of BMW’s largest SUV, remains gigantic. Also at the rear much seems to remain the same. We would not be surprised if BMW decides to transfer the continuous LED bar from the 7 series to the X7, but that is not more than a gamble.

The X7 appeared in November 2018, exactly two years ago, on the Dutch price lists. The model is a larger, seven-seater alternative to the X5, which was BMW’s largest SUV until then. There will also be an X8, but that seems to be a sportier than a larger alternative to the X7.
