BMW Z4 M40i Pulse Edition

Although the BMW Z4 was also available with a manual transmission outside the Netherlands, the current generation of BMW’s roadster in the Netherlands always had an automatic transmission. Until now. This is the BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition.

In certain markets, BMW also supplied the current generation Z4 with a manual gearbox, although you had to settle for the relatively mild sDrive20i engine version. The BMW Z4 is now also available in the Netherlands with a manual gearbox. BMW does not connect the four-cylinder of the sDrive20i to a manual gearbox here, but connects the six-in-line of the absolute top version M40oi to a six-speed gearbox.

BMW introduces the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition. This special version of the Z4 M40i has the well-known 340 hp and 500 Nm strong 3.0 inline six of the M40i, but that machine sends its power to the rear wheels for the first time. If you shift quickly enough, the Z4 M40i with manual gearbox will reach 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. In combination with the eight-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission, you can reach 100 km/h in 0.1 seconds. It’s something…

BMW Z4 Z4 M40i Pulse Edition: with manual gearbox!

BMW puts the Pure Impulse Edition on alloy M wheels that have a diameter of 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear. Variable Sport Steering, M Sport braking, an M Sport differential and adaptive M suspension are standard. The Pure Impulse Edition also receives custom-made auxiliary springs at the front and rear, a reinforced stabilizer bar clamp – a nice word for Scrabble – and other software for the dampers and steering. The software behind the traction control and the M Sport differential has also been rewritten.

From the outside, you can recognize the Pure Impulse Edition by its darker emblems, high-gloss black side mirror caps and the red brake calipers. BMW is also introducing new colors for the special version: Frozen Deep Green and San Remo Grün. However, the latter color will also be available for the Z4 sDrive20i and the Z4 sDrive30i.

The first copies of the BMW Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition will roll off the production line at Magna Steyr in Austria in March. Prices are not available yet.
