In 2018, start-up Bollinger Motors presented its two first-born electric newcomers using a self-developed modular lightweight platform. Bollinger Motors now reports that the platform will also be for sale to third parties.
Michigan-based Bollinger Motors is a start-up that presented the B1 and B2 two years ago. Both the electric pick-up (B1) and the fully electric SUV (B2) are on a modular electric platform, a base that Bollinger now says will also be producing it for third parties.
Bollinger has christened his modular base ‘E-Chassis’. In any case, the platform will be available in two flavors. A version will become available with a 120 kWh battery pack, a variant that must tolerate a variant with a 180 kWh large package above it. Both platforms have two electric motors and are therefore four-wheel drive. Bollinger speaks of a maximum load capacity of over 2,250 kilos.
The separate platform will be produced alongside the B1 and B2 and will be off the production line from 2021 onwards. A price is not yet known. Like Bollinger, competitor Rivian is also busy expanding his business model. That start-up hooked not only Ford, but also Amazon as a partner.
