The difficult period of KTM has not influenced the unique partnership with Brabus, which in recent years has led to several über -fat Brabus 1300 R editions. The German tuning specialist has recently received approval from the US Environmental Protection Agency for a new Brabus 1400 R.
If you have never heard of Brabus, the company, based in Bottrop has been aimed at designing super exclusive vehicles since 1977 based on the so-called Brabus 1-second-Wow, produced in a small edition at a very exclusive price.
What started with cars in 1977 has since grown into a very wide range of cars, boats, motorhomes, clothing and motorcycles. In 2022, the first Brabus 1300 R developed in collaboration with KTM, which was produced in a circulation of 77 pieces per color, a second series followed a year later followed that was adjusted in detail and now produced in a circulation of 145 pieces per color.
At the end of 2023, the third and final edition of the Brabus 1300 R was announced for model year 2024, the Masterpiece Edition, with again a modified design with now winglets, more appealing (forged) wheels and a lot of carbon. That it was the last edition was only logical, now KTM had upgraded the 1290 Super Duke to 1390 Super Duke.
Already a year ago it was announced that Brabus trademark had submitted for “Brabus 1400 R Rocket”, “Brabus 1400 R Tailor Made” and “Brabus 1400 R Signature”, which indeed seemed to be a confirmation of the successor to the Brabus 1300 R, based on the 1390 Super Duke.
The wild storm in which KTM ended up in the autumn last year, however, raised the question of whether that Brabus 1400 R would still come. During the Signature Night 2024 event in October, Brabus still had a black motorcycle with a unique headlight and highlights inspired on a darkened catwalk on Tron.
In addition, the name Brutus 1xxx R was announced, plus that the engine would be unveiled in the spring of 2025, which could also be read on its own website and social media immediately afterwards. However, all that was just before KTM broke out at KTM.
Despite all the unrest at KTM, however, did not lead to the projecting of the project. Well after the Mattighofen de Pleuris broke out, the German tuning specialist received approval in the United States from the US Environmental Protection Agency for the new Brabus 1400 R.
In the meantime, with the spring, we expect that it will not be long before the Brabus 1400 R will be officially unveiled.
