Brussels Motor Show canceled after all

The 2022 Brussels Motor Show will be cancelled, organizer Febiac said in a statement. With the current situation surrounding the coronavirus, the organization says it cannot welcome the expected number of visitors.

Things have been faltering for a while around the Brussels Motor Show. At the end of September, it seemed that the fair could continue despite the withdrawal of several large parties such as the Belgian Volkswagen importer D’Ieteren. Since that last message, the situation around the coronavirus has only changed so much that the organization no longer sees room for the fair. The 2022 Motor Show will therefore be ‘moved to all dealers in the country’. That means as much as: if you want to look at a car, you have to go to the brand dealer. In addition, Febiac will eventually come with a digital platform, AskOTO, where motorists and motorcyclists can ask questions.

Whether the Brussels Motor Show will take place in 2023 remains to be seen. It is now the second year in a row that the fair has been canceled and the future of the fair was not exactly rosy. Not only D’Ieteren dropped out, Stellantis also had doubts about its presence at the fair. With the disappearance of those two names, the stock market offer would shrink considerably. Incidentally, the Brussels Motor Show is not the only fair that will be canceled in 2022: the Geneva Motor Show cannot take place either.
