Buick throws the biggest MPV it sells in China along with luxury label Avenir in the melting pot. The result is this sumptuous GL8 Avenir, a full-bodied MPV that comes on the market with both six and four seats.
In 2016 Buick presented the current third generation of the GL8, a more than 5.2 meter long MPV of which the brand has now presented a new Avenir version. ‘Avenir’ is a line that Buick applies in both the United States and China to a series of models, cars that are stuffed under that name with nicer materials.
From the outside, the GL8 Avenir can be recognized, among other things, by its chrome-plated grille, a specimen with mesh instead of vertical slats. Buick sticks Avenir badges here and there, gives the GL8 matrix LED headlamps and puts the MPV on in this case 18-inch wheels which it only applies under Avenir models. The GL8 Avenir will have two electrically operated sliding doors. The GL8 is able to project the designation name ‘Avenir’ on the ground. Those who prefer to see something different can choose from no fewer than eighteen alternatives.
The interior is finished to the smallest corners and niches with beautiful materials, including perforated ‘ivory white’ leather that is reflected on the seats. The revised GL8 Avenir will be available with six seats across three rows of seats. The six-seat version includes folding tables for the second row of seats. If you want to feel completely rich, you can opt for a four-seater version in which two very comfortable-looking ‘captain seats’ are mounted in the back. These armchairs are not only electrically adjustable, heating or cooling, they are even equipped with a massage function. The floor is covered with relatively thick carpet and mood lighting with a choice of no less than 128 colors, to tailor the atmosphere to your own taste. There is only one power source on the engine list: a 230 hp blown 2.0-liter four-cylinder. It is not yet known what the GL8 Avenir will cost in China.
