Google announced its Chromecast with Google TV in 2020. That is the latest version of the Chromecast, a stick that can make any ‘dumb’ TV smart. There are two important differences compared to older Chromecast dongles. This new variant comes with a remote control and Google TV. Google TV is a variant of Android TV, which is another modified version of Android especially for TVs. Google TV comes with a completely new interface that, according to Google, is also more user-friendly.
The Chromecast with Google TV lets you use, among other things, a watch list for all kinds of streaming services. You can also view images of the doorbell on your TV screen.

Now with remote control
Also new is the remote control that comes with this Chromecast. This includes a D-Pad, a Google Assistant button and buttons for Netflix and YouTube. Finally, on the side we find buttons to adjust the volume.
Smarter successor
You can see this Chromecast with Google TV as the successor to the Chromecast Ultra. This variant can also take 4K HDR images up to 60 fps and also comes with support for Dolby Vision. Only this new version is smarter because of Google TV and more user-friendly because of the remote control.
Google has again used soft-touch plastic for this Chomecast and the device is made of 49% recycled plastic. That is why there is no black version. That turned out to be difficult for recycling companies to make.
