Getting started with YangWang

BYD appears to be planning to market its luxury brand YangWang in Europe. It reportedly starts with the YangWang U8, an EV that targets the Land Rover Defender.
A year ago we were introduced to YangWang, the very Chinese-sounding new luxury brand from car giant BYD. Then it immediately presented two models, hypercar U9 and the somewhat Land Rover Defender-looking U8. The latter seems to be crossing over to our continent. At least that’s what it reports Automobilwoche.
Not only that, sub-brand Fangchengbao would also come here with the Bao 5. AutoWeek previously turned up patent plates that were registered in Europe, so the arrival of the Bao 5 seems very likely. By the way, the YangWang U7 recently appeared in European patents, so perhaps it will also be included in the long term. With the YangWang U7, the Chinese seem to want to attack the Mercedes-Benz EQE.

The SUV, the YangWang U8, is 5.3 meters long, has four electric motors with a combined 1,100 hp and even has a real ‘crab mode’. This allows him to move sideways. In China, the U8 has a starting price of around €140,000. It is not yet entirely clear what the YangWang U7 sedan has to offer. The Fangchengbao Bao 5 is a plug-in hybrid, with a 1.5 four-cylinder engine and two electric motors that together generate almost 700 hp.
