Less fortunate in every way

The BYD Seal as presented earlier this year to European and therefore also Dutch consumers will receive a cheaper entry-level version in the first half of next year. Wait a minute, cheaper? The prices of any BYD Seal are not yet known, are they? Beats like a bus.
In September 2022 we already wrote about the possible arrival of the electric BYD Seal to Europe and in April of this year those suspicions were confirmed by Louwman. We don’t have the prices of the BYD Seal yet, but we do know that the first copies will be delivered around the end of this year. The Seal, intended for Europe, was only presented with an 82.5 kWh battery pack for the time being, but a battery-technically less generously endowed version will be added, which will therefore most likely be less expensive than the variants with the already known package.
The BYD Seal will also be available in Europe in a version with a 61.4 kWh battery pack. Also in Europe? Certainly. As we wrote before the official announcement of the arrival of the Seal in Europe, BYD already supplies the Seal in China with a smaller battery. In Europe, the BYD Seal is given the name Comfort with this smaller package. How powerful is its electric motor? We have to guess at that. In China, BYD supplies the Seal with this package with a 204 hp or with a 231 hp electric motor on the rear axle. Aim for a range of – on paper – between 400 and 450 kilometers.
As mentioned, it was already known that the BYD Seal in Europe will receive versions with the larger 82.5 kWh battery. There will be a 313 hp rear-wheel drive version that bears the design name Design and a four-wheel drive version with two electric motors that together produce 530 hp. We now know that the latter will be called Excellence. The 313 hp version accelerates to a speed of 100 km / h in 5.9 seconds and has a range of 570 kilometers. The four-wheel drive stronger top version kicks it up to a range of up to 520 kilometers.
You will have to be patient for the arrival of the BYD Seal with the smaller 61.4 kWh battery. It won’t come to Europe until the second quarter of next year. The prices of the BYD Seal with 82.5 kWh battery will come next week.
