BYD, the Chinese brand that is best known here for its electric cars, has set up a huge production of mouth masks and disinfectant in a short time. In doing so, it wants to make an important contribution to the fight against the corona crisis.
Chinese BYD makes anything and everything; passenger cars, buses, electronics and battery packs. Due to the corona crisis, a new industry has been added: mouth masks. When the coronavirus started to take hold in home country China, BYD set up a new production line for mouth masks in no time. In their own words, they now produce five million mouth masks per day. BYD has worked hard with a team of three thousand people in recent months to set up production and even says 90 percent have developed the machines themselves.
BYD expects daily production to grow at a tremendous speed. They build five to ten machines per day, which means that the production of mouth masks can increase (!) Daily by 400,000. In addition, another team within BYD has also started manufacturing disinfectants. According to the Chinese, this is now at 300,000 bottles per day.
