BYD seems to be planning to build cars in Europe. Currently, the Chinese car manufacturer only sells cars here that it produces in its home country. The huge BYD would target several European countries for a factory.

The passenger car branch of the gigantic BYD is taking its first steps in Europe, but the intention is that it will also become a major player here. To achieve that, BYD would now be looking for a location in Europe to build cars for the local market. Remarkable, since Chinese car manufacturers usually compete with European manufacturers with lower prices thanks to lower production costs in their own country.

According to the French Les Echos BYD is, among other things, in talks with representatives of the French government for a possible factory in France. However, Germany and Spain would also still be in the running. It would not be BYD’s first European factory, by the way: BYD has been building buses and trucks in Hungary since 2017.
