Although many enthusiasts receive the sportier CT4-V and CT5-V with open arms in the middle of last year, the performance of those cars is somewhat disappointing. Cadillac now has good news for them: even more extreme versions are coming soon. This is done under the Blackwing label.
With powers of between 326 and 361 hp, we were disappointing with sporty V versions of the CT4 and CT5 among the general public. They hoped for full replacements of the outgoing ATS-V and CTS-V that produced a maximum of 649 hp. Cadillac left everyone delusional for only a few days, because a new teaser campaign of yet another V version started for both Cadillacs at the beginning of June.
During the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix, GM President Mark Reuss showed “the next step in Cadillac’s V-series legacy”. That next step has now been officially announced, as Cadillac announces that it is preparing to present the CT4-V and CT5-V Blackwing. These versions promise to be entirely performance-oriented and are optionally supplied with a manual gearbox. A remarkable option with the American manufacturer.
Nothing is said yet about the motorization and performance. In the corridors, there is speculation about the V8 from the CT6-V or an extra powerful six-cylinder. Cadillac does say the new Blackwing versions beat the lap times of the old ATS-V and CTS-V at the Virginia International Raceway. So that promises a lot of good. More information will follow soon.
