Cadillac gives the CT4 and CT5 top versions in one fell swoop that have to compete with the BMW M3 and M5. We are introduced to the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing, the latter is even the strongest street-legal Cadillac ever.
Cadillac pulled the curtain on both ATS successor CT4 and CTS and XTS replacement CT5 in May 2019. The two new sedans were immediately shown to the public as sporty CT4-V and CT5-V. The first got a blown 2.7-liter four-cylinder from Cadillac that generated 326 hp. The CT5-V was endowed with a blown V6 capable of delivering 361 horsepower to the rear wheels. Certainly adequate, but we mainly knew the Cadillac V label from the CTS-V, which in its latest incarnation was able to squeeze about 650 hp from a V8. Cadillac now gives both the CT4 and CT5 sporty variants that the autoland has been waiting for. These are the CT4-V Blackwing and CT5-V Blackwing!
Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing
CT4-V Blackwing
Cadillac scoops a 3.6-liter, twin-turbo V6 into the heavily spoiled nose of the CT4-V Blackwing. The six-cylinder is 479 hp and 603 Nm strong and with that Cadillac turns the model into a true competitor of the basically 480 hp and 550 Nm strong BMW M3. The American is available with a manual six-speed gearbox, although Cadillac also supplies a ten-speed automatic. Power is sent straight to the rear wheels. If you kick it on its tail, you should be able to get the sedan up to 97 km / h (60 mph) in 3.8 seconds. The top speed is 304 km / h. The absolute top version has an electronically controlled differential lock at the rear, a reinforced chassis, the adaptive Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension and is of course equipped with a stronger suspension, a more direct steering and extra powerful braking. The CT4-V Blackwing is a lot more powerful than the 455 hp strong ATS-V of which it is in fact the successor.
Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing
CT5-V Blackwing
Cadillac makes up for the long lack of a real CTS-V successor in one fell swoop with the CT5-V Blackwing. It has a 6.2-liter V8 as power plant, a 1.7-liter supercharged machine that generates no less than 677 hp and 893 Nm. It makes it the strongest road-legal Cadillac ever. Handmade at the General Motors Bowling Green factory in the US state of Kentucky, the machine is also compatible with a six-speed manual and a ten-speed automatic transmission.
The numbers don’t lie. The CT5-V Blackwing sprints to 60 mph (97 km / h) in 3.7 seconds and has an estimated top speed of over 320 km / h. Like the CT4-V Blackwing, this model also benefits from the advent of fierce braking. In fact, the discs that Cadillac mounts behind the 19-inch alloy are with a diameter of almost 40 centimeters at the front and more than 37 centimeters behind the largest copies that the brand ever gave to a production model. It is also optionally available with carbon ceramic discs that reduce the unsprung weight by 24 kilos. Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are folded around the wheels.
US prices have not yet been announced. The fierce pair is probably not coming to our country through official channels.
