Cadillac already has a nice and potent sedan in its range with the CT4-V, but the real horsepower violence has yet to come. That’s what this Blackwing version is for.
The Cadillac CT4-V already provides excellent performance with its 330 hp blown 2.7-liter, but for American standards that is still a bit tame, especially because it is a four-cylinder. The provisional top version of the CT4 pales considerably from its predecessor, the ATS-V. It kicked it up to no less than 470 hp thanks to a 3.6-V6 with two turbos. Cadillac appears to be taking the V designation in two steps with the CT4. The regular V is nice and sporty, but not too extreme. That’s what the upcoming CT4-V Blackwing is for. We see it racing past for the second time here.
Thanks to slightly less camouflage material than last time, it is easier to see that it is a CT4-V with somewhat larger air intakes in the nose, thicker side skirts, large wheels and above all a decent rear spoiler. The four trapezoidal exhaust ends are the same as with the regular CT4-V. The Blackwing has to make up for the ‘falling short’ of the CT4-V compared to its predecessor. Allegedly, the same 3.6-V6 biturbo is in the nose, although it remains to be seen whether that power source also makes a power boost. It is striking that in addition to a nine-speed automatic transmission, there is also a manual six-speed gearbox, quite special for an American. All in all, it must be good for performance that is undoubtedly just a bit more spicy than was the case with the ATS-V. It accelerated to 100k km / h in 3.8 seconds. We expect to know for sure early next year.
