With Andretti’s team

Cadillac wants to enter Formula 1 from 2026 with Michael Andretti’s yet to be founded team. There it will then use Alpine engines. Logical, right?
Ford is not the only American manufacturer to enter Formula 1 in 2026, because Cadillac also wants to participate in the sport. For Cadillac it is a whole new adventure, which it hopes to realize together with Michael Andretti. It just doesn’t seem to be more than a sponsorship deal for Cadillac, because it won’t even build the engines or participate in them at all, as Ford may do with Red Bull. No, Alpine’s power source will be in the Andretti-Cadillac. Alpine announces this at the presentation of its new Formula 1 car for 2023.
The big condition is that Cadillac and Andretti manage to start in Formula 1. For now, the green light for participation seems a long way off. Lauren Rossi, CEO of Alpine, is realistic about Alpine’s expectations: “Having a second team is nice, but not a must. We could really use a second team, because with four cars you collect more information than with two, but it’s also a hindrance for your team, so you have to be fully structured. It wouldn’t have been possible two years ago.”
