More than a year ago, APMA, a collection of various Canadian automotive bodies, announced that it would come up with its own electric car. ‘Project Arrow’, as it is called until now, becomes a bit more concrete again.
‘What they can do in the US, we can do too’. The Canadian companies affiliated with APMA must have thought so. That became concrete last October, when it showed the first images of an EV. While Canada’s auto industry can’t stand in the shadow of its neighbors to the south, ‘Project Arrow’ is going to be something to keep an eye on. The electric SUV, which we will refer to as Arrow, is now releasing some more of its secrets.
Outward secrets, yes. APMA is still mysterious about the intended technique. We still see the same basic shape as last year, but now details are becoming more apparent. The Canadians have managed to prepare a considerable design of their own, although it is not immediately very unconventional. This also applies to the doors, which slide open in opposite directions, creating an enormously spacious entry for both the passengers in the front and the back. Whether that will make it to the production stage remains to be seen. The Arrow is reportedly about 4.75 meters long and that gives an idea of where in the market it will operate. It is a bit sturdier than the Skoda Enyaq, Nissan Ariya, but about the same size as the Tesla Model Y.
As was announced last year, APMA wants to show a first physical concept car in 2022, for now they are only renders. APMA may use the CES in Las Vegas, early January (if it goes ahead) for this. In any case, it wants to show the production version in 2023. The car must then be sold in 2025. So be patient a little longer.
