More new cars registered than in November last year

In November, more than 28,000 new passenger cars were registered in the Netherlands. That was a modest 1.8 percent more than in the same month last year. This indicates that the Dutch car market has calmed down again after a considerable period full of subsequent deliveries.
For six months, enormous growth rates were observed in the Netherlands in monthly registration figures. In the months of April, May, June, July, August and September, 35, 42, 31, 38, 19 and about 17 percent more new cars were registered in the Netherlands than in the same months of 2022. In October there was there was a small dip (-1.5 percent). November shows an increase again, but at a modest 2 percent it is certainly not as intense as during the period full of backorders of previously ordered cars. This is evident from figures from Bovag and RAI Association.
In November, 28,256 new cars were registered in the Netherlands. That was 1.8 percent more than in November last year (27,746 pieces) and practically the same as in October (28,362 pieces). This brings the total number of new passenger cars registered in the Netherlands this year to 343,221. That is 22 percent more (61,965 units) than were registered in the first 11 months of 2022 (281,256 units).
Tesla Model Y in the lead twice
In October, the Kia Picanto was the winner with 1,019 units delivered at model level. In November, the Tesla Model Y will take the lead again. 1,323 units found a Dutch home, giving the Model Y a market share of 4.7 percent. Nearly one in twenty new cars delivered in November was a Tesla Model Y. The Picanto is in second place with 929 units delivered. The number three is striking. That is the Tesla Model 3, a car that we have not come across in the general Top 5 for a long time. Places four and five go to the Volvo XC40 and Volkswagen Polo.

The fact that the Tesla Model Y was the most registered new passenger car, by definition, also means that it was the most registered electric car in the Netherlands. Not surprisingly, the Tesla Model 3 is also included, in second place. The electric variants of the Volvo XC40 together accounted for 556 registrations and earned the Swede third place. Fun fact: almost 85 percent of the XC40s registered in November had an electric drivetrain. The MG 4 Electric finishes in a tidy fourth place with 420 registrations. The Skoda Enyaq closes the Top 5 with 407 registered copies.
