Crossland successor with well-known technology

The Opel Crossland will be followed next year by a completely new model, which will also have a fully electric version. It is that new electric crossover that we can show you well on these spy plates.
Within the Opel ranks, the Crossland is an interesting model from a technical perspective. While almost all compact models from the many Stellantis brands are based on the CMP platform that you know from cars such as the Jeep Avenger, Fiat 600, Peugeot 208, 2008, DS and also from the Opel Corsa and Mokka, the Opel Crossland is still on the basis of the previous generation Peugeot 208/2008. The Citroën C3 and C3 Aircross also still use that old platform. This year, Citroën will probably replace those two models with one newcomer that, like its most recent Stellantis brothers and sisters, is also on the CMP base. And what about Opel? You would think that the Mokka has taken over the role of compact crossover from the Crossland within that brand, but that appears not to be the case. The Crossland will simply be succeeded by a new model next year and that car will also exchange its old base for a new one. In these photos we see the successor to the Opel Crossland in a packed test suit.
The Opel Crossland started life in 2017 as Crossland X.
The model that will replace the current Crossland may not be called Crossland. Not long ago, Opel talked about the arrival of a ‘Crossland successor’ and that suggests that it has come up with a different model name. The Crossland successor will in any case have a fully electric version, but will not necessarily be an EV. Mild hybrid versions will also be available. The car in the photos is in any case an electric variant. Just look at the charging socket that can be seen at the rear left of the car. That electric variant will undoubtedly have the 156 hp electric motor and 54 kWh (gross) battery that are now present in many electric Stellantis models.
Since 2020, the crossover has been known as Crossland.
It looks like the replacement for the Opel Crossland is growing in size. The silhouette of the car is striking, which is strongly reminiscent of the Citroën C3 Aircross that was recently presented for various growth markets. The test model immediately betrays its Opel genes with its headlights. In it we see the brand’s renewed light signature that Opel already hinted at with the Experimental Concept and which was secretly also visible on this Rock e-Xtreme. Expect more design elements from that study model to trickle down to the new Crossland in a toned-down form. The Crossland is not the only big news that Opel has ready. The Grandland will also be followed next year. The Opel Grandland follows the Peugeot 3008 and, unlike the Crossland successor, it always seems to be an EV.
The Opel Crossland started life in 2017 as Crossland X and was renamed Crossland during a facelift in 2020. Nearly 20,000 copies of the Crossland (X) have now been registered in the Netherlands.
