Samsung has shown a flexible (Flex) and a sliding (Slidable) device this week. We already talked about it in our podcast: CES was quite a blow. Nevertheless, Samsung was there. Fortunately, because otherwise we might not have had the images of these new foldable devices.
Samsung Flex S
The Korean brand has shown the Samsung Flex S and the Flex G at CES. Flex, so no Flip. These aren’t random letters: they say something about the way the phone closes. One in an S shape, the other in a G shape. So they are not ordinary foldable telephones, because then you would actually always end up with a V (or an L, if you applied the fold in a less obvious place). These are multi-folding devices, where there are three panels.
In addition, Samsung has shown the Flex Note concept, a device that shows that laptops also have the chance of a flexible screen in the future. Unfolded, you can expect a large 17-inch screen from Flex Note, but when folded, you’re left with 13 inches. Just like the video above has droid app also shared a video of this device, which makes it clear at once what this device looks like:
Flex Slidable
The last device that the Korean tech giant took to Las Vegas is Flex Slidable. This phone seems quite ordinary, but on the side you can roll out an extra screen. Whether this will actually come to the market is doubtful, because CES is often a fair where tech companies mainly show what they can do in terms of technology, versus what they will actually release.
Lots of new gadgets from Samsung, but which one is your favorite? Would these devices still see the light of day for the masses? Leave your thoughts below this article.
