For model year 2025, CFMoto has supplied a real adventurer to the 800mt gamma: the 800MT-X. With large wheels in off-road size and spacious spring roads, the 800mt-X is a serious option for the big adventure, and that for a competitive price of just 12 thousand euros.
A mix of the 800MT and the KTM 790/890 Adventure (with or without extra R), that is the first to appear in us when seeing the new 800mt-X, the first from Hangzhou with which you can really go seriously offroad , as witnessed by the action photos about Woestijnduinen shot somewhere in Peru.
The nose of the MT-X still has the same remarkably styled headlight unit as the standard 800mt, but then provided with a high-bodied- off-road stumpboard (so without a second layer placed front fender), more robust side and tank panels and two sidelies of the block Placed fuel tanks, such as KTM that has done with the 790/890 Adventure, which is driven by the same LC8C parallelwin.
Indeed, the block that the Austrians developed in consultation with the CFMoto and is produced and assembled in Hangzhou – just like the overall 790 model line. Models that are sold under the KTMR2R brand name in China, because a smart Chinese Pierer has been in smart and had already registered the name KTM, but just aside.
Thus beating heart of the 800MT-X is the well-known 799cc LC8C parallelwin, which is specified for a top power of 95 hp at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 87 Nm by 7,750 rpm. In terms of top power, the X is therefore the same as the 800mT sport, because 70 kW is the maximum power that can still be returned to 35 kW for the A2 driving license, but the torque is significantly higher (87 Nm vs. 77 Nm for the sport and 75 Nm for the Explore).
The difference in maximum values suggests that CFMoto has adjusted the power output specifically to the more adventurous approach of the MT-X, but that is guessing from our side. In the brief information, no word is ripped about that.
The compact two-cylinder is fed by a fuel injection developed in-house with ride-by-wire throttle valve control, which still gives the Twin its own character compared to the LC8C parallelwin that Mattighofen uses. The block has a slip-assist link, a Quickshifter, three driving modes, cruise control and the well-known 6-axle Bosch IMU, which has made the traction control and the ABS sloping angle dependent.
Just like KTM, CFMoto has placed two fuel tanks next to the engine block, for better centralization of the center of gravity. The tanks have a joint volume of 22.5 liters and for whom that is not enough: an additional 8-liter tank can optionally be placed in the ass, with which the total volume of the tanks reaches 30.5 liters.
The big difference compared to the other two 800mt models is in the bicycle part, which is completely overhauled and made suitable for the real off-road adventure.
Starting with the wheels, where the cast wheels have made way for spoke wheels in off -road size (21 “front, 18” rear) and are equipped with a bubble profile in sizes 90/90 R21 front and 150/70 R18 at the rear. CFMoto also says it has adjusted the ball head corner and follow -up, but the exact data is not mentioned.
Then the suspension. CFMoto has not only made the suspension more robust, but – at least as important – gave much longer spring roads. At the front is a KYB 48 mm upside down with 230 mm Veerweg, the KYB Achterershock also has 230 mm Veerweg. Of course fully adjustable, both front and rear.
Regarding the brakes, we see no substantial differences with the 800mt Explore and Sport, with two 320 mm brake discs on the front and J.Juan Radial 4-sucker calipers and a single 260 mm disk with J.Juan 2-sucker caliper behind. That’s more than enough to get the 214 kilos of roadworthy MT-X Rap to stop.
The off-road genes of the MT-X are completed by the flat saddle, which is really much better for off-road use than the stepped saddle of the other two 800mt models. Without this being at the expense of its accessibility, the 800mT-X has a seat height of 830 mm, which can be adjusted to 870 mm. That means you don’t have to take a kitchen step with you to take a seat on the motorcycle.
From the saddle you have a view of a vertical 7 “TFT color display, which according to CFMoto is unprecedented. Of course the Display Bluetooth connectivity to link your smartphone and is equipped with the CFMoto T-Box, which offers extra connectivity functions such as GPS tracking Standard is also provided with tire stress check in the display.
The 800 MT-X is available in the colors Nebula Black and Zephyr Blue, for the price tag of € 11,999 (€ 10,999 BE). That’s pretty competitively priced, especially when you take into account the equipment level. For a standard Ténéré 700, € 13,199 must already be put on the table (which loses the Delft in terms of equipment and performance), with the 790 Adventure that is even € 14,350.
Available from the beginning of March.
