Changan E07

Anyone who, for whatever reason, is not attracted to the increasing number of Chinese brands that want to sell their goods in Europe, should look away. We have yet another new electric car from a manufacturer new to Europe.

Chinese car manufacturer Changan has been flirting with the European market for some time. In 2017, Changan already indicated that it would like nothing more than to also market its cars on the European mainland. Changan already wanted to show the Uni-T to the European public during the Geneva Motor Show, but the coronavirus threw a spanner in the works. The fair was cancelled. Changan has a sub-brand Avatr and the club recently indicated that Changan’s Avatr should also be launched in Europe within a few years. This time we can show you a strikingly designed new electric car from car brand Changan. That too might be coming our way.

Changan Qiyuan CD701

Changan Qiyuan CD701, the concept car that previewed the car.

We found photos of an electric SUV-like SUV from Changan in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. For the time being, Changan only has a Chinese name: Qiyuan E07. It is the production version of the Qiyuan CD701 (photos 5 and 6) concept car that the manufacturer previously showed. The Changan Qiyuan E07 is a special colossus. Up to the B-pillar it is ‘just’ an electric SUV, but towards the rear the roofline slopes particularly sharply. If we look at the SUV through the eyelashes, we even notice a hint of Pontiac Aztek in it.

The Changan Qiyuan E07 is 5.05 meters long, 2 meters wide and just under 1.7 meters high. The wheelbase is a very decent 3.12 meters. The car weight is certainly not on the subtle side at 2,278 to 2,398 kilos. In any case, the Qiyuan E07 will have two engine versions in China. The first has a single 343 hp electric motor on the rear axle. The second has four-wheel drive and not only has the 323 hp unit at the rear, but also a 256 hp electric motor on the front axle.

Is the Changan Qiyuan E07 coming to Europe? That has not yet been confirmed, but Changan has registered the design of the car in the European patent office (photos 7 to 13).

Do you think the Changan Qiyuan E07 has a successful appearance? Or would Changan be better off leaving the colossus in its home country of China?
