Change desktop background on Mac

Brighten up the desktop of the Mac computer? Select any image or your own photo as the desktop background.


  • Click on the Apple logo > System Preferences.
  • click on Desktop and screen saver.
  • Click on the tab desktop.
  • Click on the image you want as your background.
  • Click the screen away via the circle with a cross.

The background is turned on immediately.

  • Click on the Apple logo > System Preferences.
  • click on Desktop and screen saver.
  • Click on the tab desktop.
  • Click in the left menu Colors or Plain colours.
  • Select the color you want to set as the background.
  • Click the screen away via the circle with a cross.

The background color is immediately visible.

  • Click on the Apple logo > System Preferences.
  • click on Desktop and screen saver.
  • Click on the tab desktop.
  • Click on the left folders > Pictures or photos.
  • All photos appear. Isn’t this the case? Then click the plus sign (+) at the bottom left, select the folder containing your photos and click Choose.
  • Click on the photo you want to set as wallpaper. The background changes immediately.
  • Click the screen away via the circle with a cross.

Do you want the desktop image to change by itself every now and then? Then do the following:

  • Click on the Apple logo > System Preferences.
  • click on Desktop and screen saver.
  • Click on the tab desktop.
  • Put a tick in front of Change image.
  • Select how often you want an image to change by clicking the arrow and clicking the appropriate interval, for example Every half hour.
  • Select the folder from which you want the images to alternate. The background is now adapted to your own wishes.
  • Click the screen away via the circle with a cross.
