Change the name of your iOS device in 4 steps

Changing the iPad, iPod touch or iPhone name is a piece of cake. By following the four steps below, you can set a new device name that meets your requirements. That’s nice, since the name is not only shown in iTunes, but also when you use AirDrop or turn on a personal hotspot.

  1. Go to ‘Settings> General’;
  2. Tap ‘Info’ and then ‘Name’;
  3. You can now enter a new device name in the text box. Tap the cross to clear the box;
  4. When you are happy with the new name, press ‘Done’.

As you can see, changing your iPhone name for example is a piece of cake. You can do this as often as you want, which can be useful if you are giving your iOS device to a friend or family member as a gift. In that case, we advise you to restore the factory settings, so that there is no more private data on the device.
