Looking for a new Mercedes-Benz with an extended wheelbase, but is a Mercedes-Maybach or an S-class Lang a bit too expensive? Look no further, the Citan has the answer.

It remains a bit of a special story, the compact vans from Mercedes-Benz. As before, the Citan and its passenger version brothers are in principle the Renault Kangoo again. After all, you can leave the development of such vans and ludospaces to the French. Nevertheless, Mercedes-Benz puts the Citan a bit higher in the market with the more luxurious T-class passenger version that is not available in the Netherlands and the electric EQT that is available here. For those who like to keep things a bit simpler, the Citan is the best option. After all, there is also a passenger version, the Tourer, and now we see an extra large variant of the Citan Tourer.

At the presentation of the T-class, Mercedes already announced that a longer seven-seater is in the pipeline and this is the first sign of life. In this case we see the Citan, not the extended T-class, but the recipe is obviously the same. The sliding doors are clearly a nice bang longer than usual and also take some distance from the rear wheels. With the regular Citan, the wheel arch even takes a small bite out of the sliding door. It provides enough space to add a row of seats in the back. The passengers in the second row of seats can also count on more spacious legroom.

If we take a look at the past, you can carefully count on a wheelbase that is about 40 centimeters longer than with the regular variant. Don’t pin us on it. There is also no ‘Maxi’ version of the Renault Kangoo yet, so it is not yet possible to say with certainty. Incidentally, there is a good chance that it will come, although the only passenger version of the Kangoo in the Netherlands is the electric Kangoo E-Tech Electric. It remains to be seen whether that and the Mercedes-Benz EQT will also be extended. Renault seemed to hint at this last summer with a concept car.
