Two more brands besides Omoda

Chery goes to Europe with not one but three brands

The Chinese car manufacturer Chery has probably never heard of ‘starting slowly’. Omoda is not the only brand that the company is bringing to Europe. In addition to Omoda, it plans to bring two more brands to our part of the world.

Early next year you can get into the Omoda 5 in the Netherlands. The Omoda 5 is an electric SUV-like from the Chinese car manufacturer Chery, but Chery’s ambitions extend further than that in Europe. According to Reuters, which spoke to Chery Europe’s executive director Jochen Tueting, Chery will bring two more brands to Europe in the near future. In addition to Omoda, Jaecoo and Exlantix are also coming this way.

There is no extensive information yet about what the three brands will be up to in Europe. We do know that the brands in Europe will not only sell electric cars. According to Tueting, each brand will have three SUVs with electric or hybrid powertrains by 2025. The offering is adapted to the market in which the brands become active. We already know that from Omoda. The Omoda 5 will only come to the Netherlands as an EV, but is also available elsewhere with a combustion engine. Exlantix must bring its first model to Europe in early 2025. Chery is currently considering, among other things, whether it can take over a European production facility from an existing European car manufacturer. There are no details about this.
