Chevrolet Bolt gets crossover brother

The Opel Ampera-e is, just like the Astra and the Insignia, one of the last vestiges of the ‘old’ Opel as it operated under the wings of General Motors. Although the electric Ampera-e does not seem to be a long career in our country, the EV called Chevrolet Bolt has yet to hit it. The Bolt even seems to be reinforced by a technically almost identical brother.

A fresh series of spy photos shows a packed Chevrolet that is assigned a place in the showrooms next to the electric Bolt. It is a slightly wider alternative to the Bolt. Although the car is still properly camouflaged, interesting details can be seen. The ascending shoulder line, among other things, suggests that we are dealing with an already known model.

In China General Motors will soon launch the Velite 7, a fully electric compact crossover with technology from the Bolt on board. Although that car has not yet been officially presented, the first photos of the model were made public at the beginning of this year. The spatially oriented Bolt brother that will be launched in the United States later this year therefore does not seem to be much more than its own variant of that Velite 7.

So count on this electric crossover to be available with an electric powertrain that has 204 hp and 360 Nm. Thanks to a 66 kWh battery pack, the Bolt nowadays travels 416 kilometers according to the American EPA method. The Velite 7 is about 10 centimeters longer than the Bolt and the wheelbase with 2.68 meters is about 8 centimeters longer. Undoubtedly, the Chevrolet visible in these photos is also slightly more robust than its brother. A disclosure is scheduled for later this year.
