Chevrolet has introduced a new pick-up to the world. This time it is not the well-known Silverado or Colorado that has been updated, but it is the S10, which is relatively unknown in Europe, that is in the spotlight.
In the United States, among others, the model name S10 is mainly known from a compact pick-up according to American standards, which was sold over two generations between 1981 and 2004. The S10 was followed in the United States by the Colorado, an Isuzu last-shod pickup that can be compared to cars like the Nissan Navara and Ford Ranger. Chevrolet sells a modified version of the Colorado in South America, a variant produced in Brazil since 2012 and known as Chevrolet S10. That South American S10 has now been renewed.
Pre-facelift Chevrolet S10
As before, the appearance of the S10 is not entirely in line with that of the version sold as Colorado in the United States and Australia, among others. In fact, the complete front differs from that of its brothers. The S10 retains its own headlight units, but gets a completely new bumper and a larger grille. If you tick the more adventurous dressed High Country, you will get an S10 with a muzzle on which you can read the big Chevrolet brand name. The more subtle LTZ version simply has the bowtie in its grille. In the interior, the adjustments are more subtle. Here Chevrolet installs a new infotainment system linked to an 8-inch screen, which can handle Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, among others.
On the South American engine list are two power sources: a 2.5-liter Flex four-cylinder that can handle petrol (197 hp), but also ethanol (206 hp). Dieselen is possible with a 200 hp 2.8 turbo diesel, coming from the Isuzu D-Max. As before, the S10 comes on the market as a pick-up with both single and double cab. Due to the absence of Chevrolet on the Dutch car market, you should not expect both the Colorado and the S10 here.
