Chevrolet is making a facelift on the Traverse in the United States. The boy with his spring of about 5.2 meters by European standards has to tolerate cars like the Tahoe and Suburban above him in the Chevy showroom and that makes the Traverse in the North American car market ‘only’ a medium-sized SUV. .
The current second generation of the Chevrolet Traverse was introduced to the world in 2017, making the SUV not yet an old model. Chevy is busy busy releasing completely new generations of various models, including the Tahoe and Suburban. With a relatively subtle facelift, the Traverse is brought back into line with its younger brothers.
The Traverse gets new LED headlights that are a bit flatter and slightly more aggressive than the ones that were previously in the front of the SUV. The grille has been tightened and now has a slightly more angular design. Chevrolet also installs new lighting at the rear and the chrome strip between the light units is just as flatter than the previous one.
Of course, Chevrolet also makes minor changes to the interior. For example, the SUV now has an 8-inch digital instrumentation and the infotainment system can now handle things like Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Chevrolet expands the Traverse’s standard equipment with features such as an emergency braking system that includes pedestrian braking, automatic high beam and lane assist.
The drivetrain is not tinkered with, which means that the Traverse of model year 2021 also has a more than 300 hp strong 3.6-liter V6 that is linked to a nine-speed automatic.
In the United States, the Traverse takes on cars like the Ford Explorer and Honda Pilot. Last year, 146,264 Traverses were sold in the United States (Ford Explorer: over 260,000).
