The Chinese brand Zeekr, which is part of Geely, will start selling cars in Europe in 2023. The first achievement is the 001, an electric crossover, previously introduced in China. The brand also releases more about the Zeekr 009, an oversized electric MPV.
It was not yet certain when Zeekr would come to Europe. The brand never made secrets of its European intentions, but did not come up with anything concrete. Until now. The Zeekr 001, an electric crossover, will be available in Europe in 2023. This reports Reuters news agency based on the transcripts of a conversation from top of the brand. Its 001 was introduced to the Chinese market a year ago and is Zeekr’s first model. The brand wants to enter the market segment of the premium brands and wants to appeal to young buyers. Nothing is known yet about when the European deliveries of the 001 will start.

The brand also reveals more about Zeekr’s second model, the 009. For the first time, we get to see the entire front and interior of this six-seater MPV. The former, as previously promised, is more proprietary and disguises the family ties to Lynk & Co – something the 001 front didn’t do. Zeekr also releases more specifications of the 009. Please note: we now know that the 001 is coming to Europe, but we consider that unlikely for the time being for the 009.

The Zeekr 009 is a luxury, electric MPV and it is questionable whether Geely sees a market for such a car in Europe. Nevertheless, we now know more about the specifications of the model. We already knew that it is 5.2 meters long, but that it weighs more than 2,800 kg yet. That is largely due to the battery that is in it: a 140 kWh large copy should provide a range of more than 820 km according to the often somewhat optimistic Chinese CLTC test cycle. This is due to the relatively favorable aerodynamics of the car. It scores a Cw value of 0.27, partly due to a windscreen folded around the A-pillars.
Furthermore, the 009 is a car of the kind that leaves little to be desired: with four-wheel drive and a power of more than 540 hp, it can reach 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. The optional air suspension should ensure a high level of driving comfort, while the occupants are fully equipped. Initially, the 009 will always be equipped with six seats, later an even more luxurious configuration with four seats will be launched. The model should contribute to the ambitious goals of Zeekr, which the brand with Geely as parent company could easily achieve. Let’s see how the 001 will do here first.
