Not yet a total metamorphosis

The red, round Circle K logo is often seen at gas stations worldwide, but is still virtually unknown in the Netherlands. This will change in the near future, as Circle K will take over all TotalEnergies’ retail locations here.
The acquisition does not immediately mean that TotalEnergies gas stations will become Circle K gas stations. The American Circle K is basically a chain of ‘convenience stores’, the small shops that you find at gas stations, among other places. That’s what you can expect from Circle K in the coming years: the shops at Total gas stations will get a new name. In addition to the shop, this also applies to any car wash activities. Circle K will take over the complete TotalEnergies network in the Netherlands, so this applies to all 378 locations. Existing employees do not have to worry, because they will simply go along with the takeover.
The fuel at the petrol stations in question will continue to be sold by TotalEnergies for at least the next five years and will continue to be advertised as such. What happens next is not yet officially clear. Abroad, the entire gas station often has the name ‘Circle K’, although this company is not an oil company. This concerns the stores, which, according to Wikipedia, are not linked to a gas station in only 13 percent of global cases.
