Citroën Ami as a miniscule delivery van

The small cuddly city smack from Citroën that listens to the name Ami turns out to be perfectly suitable for an order version. This is the Citroën My Ami Cargo, a miniscule electric commercial vehicle.

The Citroën Ami is something completely different in 2021 than you would think based on its name. The Ami is nowadays a tiny electric city car that is not only for sale in various countries, but can also be parked in front of your door via a subscription. The Ami, which can also be used as a shared car, is only 2.41 meters long, making it 9 centimeters shorter than the first generation Smart CityCoupé / Fortwo. It is of course no surprise that the square Frenchman can only accommodate two people. That Citroën also sees a suitable delivery van in the Ami is.

The Citroën My Ami Cargo, as the order version is actually called, has to do without a passenger seat. Citroën places a plastic container in which you can at least store a box based on these photos. The total storage space in the My Ami Cargo is 400 liters according to Citroën, although the space under the cover itself is 260 liters. The maximum payload is set at 140 kilos. The additional price compared to the regular Ami is € 400 according to Citroën. In France, the Ami has a starting price of € 6,900. A quick calculation shows that the My Ami Cargo will cost around € 7,300.

Citroën sees the My Ami Cargo as a safer alternative to two or even three-wheeled vehicles that use course services. Citroën also foresees a future for the My Ami Cargo at local utility companies, locksmiths, on construction sites to drive documents and tools from A to B and at, for example, camping sites. Whether the golf course also belongs to the future domain of the Ami? It could just be.

The technology itself is not tinkered with, which means that the My Ami Cargo also has an 8 hp electric motor that draws its energy from a 5.5 kWh battery. Its top speed is 45 kilometers per hour, which makes it a microcar or microcar according to Dutch law. Good news for 16-year-olds, even with a moped license you should be able to get behind the wheel of the French toddler completely legally. Small side note: Citroën says it does not yet know if and when the Ami will be introduced in the Netherlands.
