With fifth door

Meet the Citroën Basalt Vision: an extremely production-ready preview of a brand new sister model of the Citroën C3. The car will go into production this year, but whether you should count on it in the Netherlands…
In February this year, a wrapped test copy of a Citroën surfaced that we had difficulty placing. Underneath the somewhat provisionally applied camouflage material there seemed to be a car that became the new Citroën C3 what the C4 Today we see that we were not far wrong. This is the Citroën Basalt Vision, a preview of a C4 X-like, but in the segment of the new C3.
In short, the Citroën Basalt Vision is an extended new Citroën C3 with an excellent trunk in a literal sense, although in the case of the Basalt Vision Citroën talks about a fifth door. This indicates that – unlike the C4 X – it is not a sedan. However, there is a big snake hiding under the grass. According to the French, the Citroën Basalt Vision is mainly intended for the South American and Indian markets. That also explains why the nose of the Basalt Vision is very similar to that of the C3 and the new C3 Aircross that is already available there. The European new Citroën C3 and the as yet unreleased C3 Aircross will closely resemble those cars and will soon share technology with them, but are not completely identical to each other. It cannot yet be completely ruled out that a Basalt-like one will also come to Europe in the long term. The Indian and South American C3 and C3 Aircross also came (or are coming) our way in appropriate form. If that does happen, there will probably also be an electric version. This also exists for both the European and ‘exotic’ C3.
Citroën describes the Basalt Vision – of which the Vision part of the name will eventually be dropped – as a compact SUV Coupé. The brand is withholding dimensions and technical data for the time being. A production version derived from the Basalt Vision should go on sale in the aforementioned markets in the second half of this year.
