Cheaper plugging
The Citroën C5 X was already available with a plug-in hybrid powertrain and a second plug-in version is now being added. The 225 hp plug-in hybrid Citroën C5 X will be joined by a less potent 180 hp variant. AutoWeek can report that and the prices of the new C5 X Plug-in Hybrid 180 before Citroën itself publicizes it.
The Citroën C5 X can be ordered with a 130 hp 1.2 PureTech petrol engine, but those who want more power and the option to cover at least part of their kilometers electrically could also order the Citroën C5 X as a 225 hp plug. – in hybrid order. The C5 X with this powertrain was available as a Feel, Shine and Business Plus. Entry-level version Feel will be canceled in combination with this motorisation, which would mean that a Citroën C5 X with a plug-in hybrid powertrain will now have a higher starting price. But that is not the case. Citroën adds a milder 180 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain to the delivery range of the Citroën C5 X.
The Citroën C5 X Plug-in Hybrid 180 is available from the Feel trim level and has a starting price of €47,890. This makes it only €670 more expensive than the 50 hp less strong non-plug-in hybrid Citroën C5 X with 130 hp petrol engine in Feel trim (€47,220). The 180 hp plug-in hybrid Citroën C5 X is also available as a Business Plus and is just as expensive in the version intended for business drivers. The Citroën C5 X with 225 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain costs €52,190 as a Shine and €49,390 as a Business Plus.
Under the hood of the Citroën C5 X with 180 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain is a 150 hp 1.6 PureTech petrol engine that, together with a 110 hp electric motor, provides a system power of 180 hp. The electric range is 62 kilometers. This C5 X sprints to a speed of 100 km/h in 8.9 seconds. Its top speed: 225 km/h. Not long ago, Citroën already released the 180 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain in the C5 Aircross.
