Citroën Visa Découvrable (1985) – Into the Wild

‘Chrono Deplorable’

Citroën Visa Découvrable (1985) – Into the Wild

The Citroën Visa is now In the Wild worthy in all its forms, but a special version such as a Découvrable is just that. This open version is also called Décapoutable, but ‘Deplorable’ is also appropriate today.

This Visa dates from 1985 and is therefore quite young for a Visa, but still 37 years old. Usually that is an age at which a car is cherished or even refurbished, but this car has not yet tasted that pleasure based on the rugged appearance. It is in far from neat condition and is also decorated with a body kit that seems to come from the Visa Chrono, the rally version of the Visa. Its riveted fender flares can be found here, for example, as well as sporty wheels and colored bumpers. The front bumper also has a very large bumper lip, but it seems to want to escape its fate.

Also striking: in the bumper are large, orange direction indicators. These appear to be from a Visa with the GTi’s twin round headlights, which do not include turn signals. However, ‘our’ Visa has the regular headlights and therefore two blinkers per side.

Although this Visa apparently had a very rough life, based on the license plate data, it is not that bad. The car came to our country in 1994 and has had only a handful of owners since then. The last one has had it since 2007, so we hope things will work out between that person and the car.

Despite our easy scolding about the condition of this copy, it is of course just a nice and unique appearance. According to some, it is even best to let an old car age visibly, and there is something in that. What do you think? Let me know!
