Clean up iPhone photos: This is the best (and easiest) way

Cleaning up photos on your iPhone is a big job, but this app makes it easy. And without ever accidentally throwing away a photo!

Clean up iPhone photos: swipe them away with Swipewipe

If you often take photos with your iPhone, your camera roll will be full without realizing it. That’s not a disaster, because it is stored in the cloud anyway and the search function of Apple Photos is getting better at finding the right photo. Yet it is far from ideal.

Search photos iphone

We’ve all spent way too long scrolling through our photos looking for that one picture. The more photos you have, the bigger a problem that becomes. At a certain point there is so much junk in there that you don’t even feel the need to look back anymore.

There are various solutions for this. You can take the time to go through your photos manually, or you can use an app that automatically discards duplicates and bad photos. These apps can be pretty good, but do you really trust that that special photo won’t be accidentally thrown away? Of course not. Fortunately, there is a solution for that.

Swipe and wipe

Anyone who has ever used a dating app knows the concept of swiping left or right: left is negative and right is positive. The app Swipewipe takes that simple idea and applies it to your photos. With the app, you go through all the photos on your iPhone per month and choose to swipe right to keep it and swipe to the left to throw it away.

So you really go through every photo on your iPhone. That’s a big job, but this is the only way you can be sure that you don’t throw away anything important while cleaning up the photos on your iPhone. You will notice that there is a lot of junk in there that you never need to see again. Especially if you often take several photos quickly and only post the nicest picture on social media.

Unlike Tinder or other dating apps, you don’t have to jump through hoops to undo a swipe. You can do that at any time by tapping the screen or pressing the rewind button.

In practice, using the app means swiping a stack of photos every now and then. If you do this for a few minutes each time, you can easily go through all your photos. This is of course also a nice way to make memories, because you go through your life month by month.

Subscription (but free for three days)

Unfortunately, Swipewipe is not free, because a subscription costs no less than 39.99 euros per year. The makers of the app hope that you will check ‘on this day’ every day to keep your camera roll clean, or look back on that month at the end of each month.

That’s why an extra tip: you can try Swipewipe for free for three days. In three days you can swipe and clear a whole bunch of photos on your iPhone. I recently started the trial over the weekend and deleted over twenty thousand images in a few days before canceling my subscription. So turn on a series and start swiping! You can download Swipewipe for free via the button below in the App Store.
