Coming soon: first test Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

After unveiling the bike last year at EICMA in Milan, Royal Enfield has presented the Super Meteor 650 to a handful of media outlets under the most varied conditions in the Indian state of Rajasthan. We are currently working hard on the extensive test, but we now also know what its price will be.

Coming soon: first test Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650

A new level of character, style and accessibility in the cruiser segment, that is the Super Meteor 650 in a nutshell according to Royal Enfield. With the Super Meteor 650, the British Indians (or are they Indian British) continue a tradition of building first-class cruisers.

The engine was created on the basis of the 648cc two-cylinder platform that has received worldwide recognition since its launch in 2018 with the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. The Super Meteor 650 has been extensively tested on test tracks, highways, back roads, cities and town centers in India, in the UK and elsewhere in Europe. In total, more than one million kilometers were covered to ensure the most enjoyable and reliable ride possible.

Siddhartha Lal, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd.:

“The Super Meteor 650 is an evolution of all our attention and efforts in the middleweight segment over the years. It is a thoroughbred, retro cruiser in every way. The design language, geometry, form factor and beautiful 650cc twin make it the the most beautiful, accessible and capable cruiser in this category.

We’ve improved the level of refinement on this bike and you can feel it in its smooth throttle response throughout the range. The bike has confidence-inspiring stability, corners well and feels balanced at high speeds.

It’s a perfect mid-range engine that will captivate even people who aren’t interested in cruisers. We believe the Super Meteor will expand the market for cruisers around the world and take the Royal Enfield twin platform to the next level.”

According to Enfield, the Super Meteor 650 is a cruiser par excellence that combines clear controls and instruments with relaxed ergonomics; rock-solid stability on the highway with pure driving pleasure on even the windiest roads, where it responds sharply to steering movements. At least that’s what Enfield claims.

Another great quote: “The flexible, smooth engine has plenty of torque and its cool retro styling is infused with unmistakable Royal Enfield DNA. It’s a physically imposing presence, yet remains easy to drive, whether you’re traversing vast landscapes cruising or heading to the end of the horizon.”

B. Govindarajan, the CEO of Royal Enfield:

“We have focused not only on building great motorcycles, but also on inventing new designs that transcend traditional motorcycle segments. The Royal Enfield Meteor 350, which replaced the Thunderbird in our portfolio, did just that: it made cruising easy to motorcyclists around the world and became one of our best-selling motorcycles in Europe and other parts of the world. The Super Meteor 650 is reviving the cruiser segment and creating its own identity as an authentic, accessible mid-range cruiser.”

The Super Meteor 650 is available in five striking colors: Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Gray and Interstellar Green. Supplied with a touring windshield, deluxe touring seat and passenger backrest, the Super Meteor 650 Tourer is available in two striking two-tone finishes: Celestial Red and Celestial Blue.
