Slightly more company cars were sold in October than in the same month last year. The annual total is also slightly higher than in 2020, although it is lagging behind 2019. The Bovag and Rai Association do not expect the old level to be achieved for next year either.
De Bovag and RDC calculate that 5,688 new delivery vans were sold in the Netherlands in October. That is more than in October 2020, when there were 5,413. A growth of more than 5 percent. This is striking, since lower numbers were recorded in the previous three months than in that period in 2020. Sales therefore seem to be picking up again, although company car registrations are of course also suffering from the continuous chip shortage.
Compared to 2020, which is plagued by lockdowns, things are looking a bit better for the whole year so far. Up to and including October, 58,658 new vans have been sold, up from 51,120 last year. A growth of 15 percent. The Bovag and Rai Association expect the total number to reach 66,000 this year. For next year they are not counting on fireworks, because the prognosis for this is currently 67,000, so only 1,000 more. By way of comparison: in 2019 more than 76,000 vans were sold.
You would say that the trade in used delivery vans has suffered little from the chip shortage. However, trade is also disappointing there. The numbers have been below last year since May and so far there has been only a plus of half a percent for the whole year. The counter now stands at 96,500 used commercial vehicles sold by the specialist trade.
