Connect Bluetooth accessory to smartphone

connect bluetooth devices(1)

Wireless devices such as a speaker or headphones can be connected to a smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. But how do you put them in contact with each other?

  • Turn on the bluetooth device so that it will soon be visible to your Android device. Consult the manual of the device if it is not visible during the following steps.
  • On the Android device, swipe down from the top of the screen.
  • The control panel opens. Tap the gray bluetooth icon Icon: bluetooth to turn on bluetooth. (If you don’t see this, tap the app Institutions > Device Connections > Bluetooth.)
  • The phone or tablet immediately searches for Bluetooth devices in the area. Under “Available devices”, tap the name of the device.
  • You may need to enter a code to establish the connection. This code can be found in the manual of the accessory.
  • A connection will be established and the device will be listed under ‘Paired devices’. Tap on Ready.

The next time you turn on the accessory and bluetooth, the accessory will be listed under ‘Paired devices’. This is visible via the icon on the control panel or via the Settings. Often an accessory makes contact automatically when bluetooth is on. If not, select the device under ‘Paired devices’.

Tip: In Spotify music app, you will come across the ‘Available devices’ icon Icon: Available devices Spotify in return for. Switch between speakers with this.

  • Turn on the bluetooth accessory so that it will soon be visible to the iPhone/iPad. Consult the manual of the device if it is not visible during the following steps.
  • Grab the iPhone and tap the app Institutions > Bluetooth. Check whether the slider behind ‘Bluetooth’ is green.
  • Under “My Devices” (iOS 13/iPadOS 13 or later) or “Devices” (iOS 12), tap the name of the accessory.
  • You may need to enter a code to establish the connection. This code can be found in the manual of the accessory.

After the connection has been made, the accessory will be listed under ‘My devices’. Often an accessory makes contact automatically when bluetooth is on. If not, select the device under ‘My devices’ in the Settings app, under Bluetooth.

Play music via bluetooth accessory and iPhone/iPad

For example, have you paired a bluetooth speaker, but the sound you are playing is still coming from the iPhone/iPad? Then do the following:

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen. On an iPhone X or later or iPad with iOS 12 or later, swipe down from the top right of the screen.
  • The control panel opens and the audio that is playing can be seen on it. Tap the icon that resembles a sound signal Icon: connect speaker.
  • Select the correct speaker.

In the Spotify app, you will come across the bluetooth icon or the icon for ‘Available devices’ Icon: Available devices Spotify in return for. Tap to select the correct speaker. The music now comes from the desired speaker.
