Continental has presented the successor to the RoadAttack 3: the RoadAttack 4. In addition to the fact that a new compound and drainage pattern should have increased grip, the Germans emphasize that the Road Attack not only completes the latest Hypernakeds, but also improves the performance of old bikes.
According to Continental, the new RoadAttack 4 combines two worlds: on the one hand, a completely new tire design that easily surpasses the competition in terms of traditional TourSport criteria: mileage, comfort, stability and wet grip.
On the other hand, a new level of pure sportiness that is essential for the latest generation of high-performance SportTour bikes. The RoadAttack 4’s performance is said to be so good that Continental has called it a “Hyper-Touring” tire.
The history of the RoadAttack family is a classic success story: with the 2005 RoadAttack, Continental introduced ZeroDegree technology, while the RoadAttack 2 continued in 2010 with TractionSkin and MultiGrip technology. The RoadAttack 2 EVO from 2013 also impressed with RainGrip, and the RoadAttack 3 from 2017 expanded the product functions with the EasyHandling technology.
The new RoadAttack 4 adds GripLimitFeedback technology for early feedback at high lean angles. The contact patch on the sides of the tread ensures maximum grip and high precision.
An all-new compound and updated dewatering profile must have given a huge boost to wet-weather performance, with excellent grip in all conditions and even better dry grip to rival pure sports tyres. According to Conti, this modern high-tech tire has been developed for modern and powerful sport touring bikes, while improving the performance of retro touring bikes at the same time.
The features of the RoadAttack 4 at a glance:
● Simple, intuitive handling to complement the latest machines, while improving the performance of older bikes.
● The all-new compound and updated tread pattern give a huge boost to wet-weather performance, with excellent grip in all conditions and even better dry grip to rival pure sports tyres.
● New slick area on the sides of the tread for superior cornering grip at high lean angles
● Revised front tire construction provides more feedback and improved agility, with reduced tendency to ‘stand up’ during hard cornering
● Thanks to the TractionSkin technology, the tires are ready for use after a short running-in period – so no unpleasant surprises when the tire farmer drives away
