Creative with widgets: This way you can create your own personalized home screen

iOS 14 adds widgets to your home screen. Widgets give you even more options to organize your home screen exactly the way you like it. Do you also want to personalize your home screen? Then read on quickly.

Widgets in iOS 14: Personalize your homescreen

With widgets you can see information at a glance without having to open the app. You can add widgets yourself and arrange your home screen as desired. Since the arrival of the iOS 14 update, users have started right away and the most creative home screens come out.

Because iOS 14 has only just been officially released, there are still a lot of standard iOS widgets, but slowly but surely the first widgets from external apps are also becoming available. For example, IMDB, Google and Twitch have already created their own widget. Strangely enough, a widget from the popular music service Spotify is still out, but that will undoubtedly change soon.

In the meantime, you do have the option to add a Spotify widget to your home screen via the TuneTrack app. You can download the app from the App Store. After logging into the app with your Spotify data, you will see a TuneTrack widget appear in the list.

Personalize widgets with Widgetsmith

To completely personalize your home screen with widgets, apps have also been developed to do this easily. One of these is Widgetsmith. Widgetsmith comes from the well-known developer David Smith. Smith, for example, is also a developer of the Watchsmith app and Sleep ++.

You can go all out in the app. Choose the size of your widget yourself: small, medium or large. The widget can show information that you choose yourself. You can choose from:

  • Time
  • Date
  • photos
  • Calendar
  • Memories
  • Weather
  • Health
  • Tide (water movement)
  • Astronomy

You can then completely personalize the widgets with a font, colors and background. You can also set times for the widgets: for example, you can display the weather in the morning, your appointments in the afternoon and your activity rings for exercising in the evening.

Once your widget is finished, you can go back to your home screen. Long press the screen to add widgets. Press the plus sign and choose the Widgetsmith widget. Then choose the size of the widget that you have created yourself.

By long pressing the widget and tapping on ‘Customize’ you can add more. If you want, you can personalize all your widgets with the Widgetsmith app.

More widget apps

The ColorWidgets app also lets you give your widgets a personal twist. With the app you make a time and battery widget, to which you can add the most beautiful colors yourself. The app is free, but for a one-time payment you get even more color options. There are also more widget apps available in the App Store. Some of the options:
