Cupra has just pulled the canvas of a model that you cannot buy as a Seat (yet). We welcome: the Formentor!
The Cupra Formentor is the production version of the concept car of the same name that debuted a year ago in Geneva. This newcomer should have had his world debut in Switzerland too, but because of the cancellation of the Geneva Motor Show, Cupra is forced to give the powerhouse an online debut.
The Cupra Formentor is just like the brand new Cupra Leon a plug-in hybrid, but you can also get a regular petrol version. The latter is an absolute top version of the Formentor range. First the basic version, the plug-in hybrid. This has the well-known 150 hp 1.4 TSI under the hood, a gasoline engine that cooperates with a 115 hp powerful electric motor. The system power comes out at 245 hp. The 13 kWh large battery pack processed in the soil is good for an electric range of about 50 kilometers. The top version is the aforementioned ‘regular’ gasoline version. So without electrical assistance. This variant has a 310 hp and 400 Nm 2.0 TSI under the hood, a machine whose power is distributed over all four wheels via the DSG transmission. The plug-in hybrid version also has a DSG container and both flavors are equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control, which allows the Formentor to be set in various driving modes.
The Formentor is 4.45 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.51 meters high. The cross-over, in which not only Leon characteristics, but also the now characteristic copper-colored Cupra details are incorporated, is on 19-inch light metal that hides the Brembo brake. In the interior coming from the Leon, we include sports seats and a 12-inch screen where that is part of the infotainment system. Cupra continues to dress things up with things like copper-colored details and brushed aluminum
The Cupra Formentor will be available at Dutch dealers at the end of this year. Prices and extensive technical specifications will follow soon.
