Easily delete, move, archive or snooze emails with a swipe across the screen. Control the swipe actions in the Gmail app on Android devices.
Swipe emails into the trash
For the Gmail app on Android, set what happens when you swipe left or right on an email. The swipe actions are useful for anyone who wants to quickly process emails. With a swipe across the screen, emails can be archived, deleted, marked as (un)read, moved or snoozed. With the latter option, the user is reminded of the email again at a later time.
Open the Gmail app:
- Swipe up or down on the screen to open the overview of all apps. For earlier versions of the operating system, tap apps.
- Tap the folder google.
- Tap on gmail.
- In Gmail, tap the menu icon at the top left. That’s the icon with the three bars.
- Swipe down and tap Institutions.
- Tap on General settings.
- Tap on Swipe actions.
- Under ‘Swipe right’ and ‘Swipe left’ is what happens to an email. Tap on Modify.
- Tap the desired action.
The swipe action has been adjusted. Use the arrows at the top left to return to the mailbox.
