At the launch of the all-new Dacia Sandero and Dacia Logan, the spacious Dacia Logan MCV was the big absentee. Those looking for space can breathe (almost) relieved: the successor to the Dacia Logan MCV is on its way.
For a moment it seemed that the station wagon version of the Dacia Logan would disappear completely from the scene. After all, anyone looking for as much space as possible in a Dacia can also go for a Duster, a Dokker or a Lodgy, cars that are slightly larger and less cheap and thus bring in more money for Dacia.
However, these photos tell a different story. The car in question is still firmly camouflaged, but can almost only belong to Dacia. The nose also has many similarities with the new Dacia Sandero and Logan. Just a reminder: despite those different names, we are actually talking about various variants of the same car. The Logan is the sedan version of the Sandero, the Logan MCV the station wagon version of the same sedan.
Higher and longer
Interestingly, this new Logan MCV – when it is re-named – seems to revert to the very first generation recipe. That was strictly speaking the station wagon version of the Logan, but it was a lot longer and higher than that sedan. The new car also features a remarkably high roof, a straight rear and a long wheelbase. The rear door hardly has to make way for the rear wheel arch, which takes a clear bite out of the door at Sandero and Logan.
Lodgy
This new Dacia promises to be a lot more spacious than its direct predecessor, which is much more of a traditional station wagon. It does borrow its regular tailgate, while the first Logan MCV still had van-like back doors. That first Logan MCV also got seven seats. Whether that also applies to the new one is the question, because now Dacia also has the Lodgy in the range. However, a scenario in which one car (this one) succeeds both Logan MCV and Lodgy is also conceivable. The Lodgy has been on the market for about nine years, so a more modern alternative would also not be bad for a budget brand like Dacia.
