Massive facelift
Together with the Spring, Duster and Logan, the Dacia Sandero was facelifted in 2022. The Sandero is now being overhauled again, and a lot more drastic too. The Sandero gets a completely new front and a completely new rear and must therefore fit neatly into the delivery range of … Renault!
Dacia gave all its models a facelift in the middle of last year. So also the Dacia Sandero that appeared in 2020. With its renewed appearance and sharpened interior, the Dacia Sandero has to face it again in Western Europe in the coming years. However, the Sandero also exists as a Renault Sandero and it is that model that is completely renewed!
In countries where Dacia has never been active in the past, Dacia models go through life as Renault. For example, cars such as the Duster and Logan are driving around in Brazil as Renault, but also in Russia, for example. However, the current generation Dacia Sandero does not yet exist as a Renault, but that will soon change. AutoWeek has surfaced the patent drawings of the Renault Sandero. From the side – forget the often exaggerated overhangs on patent drawings – the Sandero can clearly be recognized in the model. For example, the entire window section matches, but the front and rear of the Renault Sandero are completely different from those of the well-known Dacia Sandero. This is remarkable for two reasons.
Firstly, because the previous generation Renault Sandero initially resembled the Dacia version like two drops of water and only acquired a slightly different appearance during its facelift in 2019 (photo 13). The new Renault Sandero therefore has a more individual appearance from the outset. Furthermore, Renault indicated in 2018 that ‘Renaults with Dacia logos’ were a thing of the past and that Renault would use Dacia technology for ‘own models’. This turns out to be different in practice. The new Renault Sandero is just another Dacia Sandero, but with a more ‘own’ face.
In any case, the appearance of the Renault Sandero is interesting. For example, the new Renault Sandero has flat LED headlights with the actual headlights one floor below. More or less as you know from the Dacia Spring. Renault is also screwing more C-shaped taillights into the buttocks of its Sandero. The current Dacia Logan (sedan) is also available as this Taliant, also as a Renault. The sedan also sold in Turkey, among others, will probably also be fitted with the new Sandero front in the long term.
Do you like the new Renault Sandero more than ‘our’ Dacia Sandero (photos 10, 11 and 12)?
