The currently cheapest new electric passenger car in the Netherlands will soon go under the knife for the second time. And not so gently either!
In its most affordable form, the Dacia Spring has a starting price of €21,750, making it the cheapest new electric passenger car you can buy. The electric Dacia Spring was introduced to the European public at the end of 2020 and Dacia’s smart move came to the Dutch market in the first half of 2021. In its original form, the Spring was only available for a short time. The compact EV already went under the knife in mid-2022. The Spring was fitted with Dacia’s new corporate identity, complete with a new grille and modified Dacia logos. What now appears? The Dacia Spring is being renewed again!
Dacia shares an image via social channels showing the silhouette of what must clearly be the Spring. “It’s coming soon!”, the French Dacia department wrote in its message. It is still too early for a completely new Dacia Spring, but the electric Romanian appears to be being thoroughly renewed. At least on an optical level. We can already see from the silhouette that the rear bumper has been designed a lot more angularly and that the shape of the tailgate and most likely also that of the taillights will also be quite different. This probably also means that the Spring’s snout will be thoroughly renewed. You can also count on new bumper work and adjusted viewers there.
Will Dacia also give the Spring a technical upgrade? That remains to be seen. In any case, we are betting on a refreshed interior with updated infotainment, but we do not think it is very likely that Dacia will give the Spring new battery packs or electric motors. The 3.73 meter short Spring is currently available with a 44 hp electric motor (Spring Electric 45) and as Extreme with a 65 hp powerful one. Both versions have a 26.8 kWh battery. The Spring Electric 45 has a range of 230 kilometers. Since the Dutch market introduction, approximately 3,150 copies of the Spring have been registered in our country.
