Daimler CEO optimistic about auto industry

The boss of Mercedes parent company Daimler looks positively ahead. According to CEO Ola Källenius, optimism in the sector remains positive and will remain so until early next year, he reported in an article published Tuesday in Automotive News Europe.

The CEO acknowledges that there are many unknown external factors that can get in the way of the auto industry. For example, there have been chip shortages for some time, as well as rising raw material prices and logistical problems. But according to Källenius, all this does not mean that the demand for cars will increase in the second half of this year. A trend that he believes will continue in 2022.

The Daimler boss hopes his company can take advantage of the demand for new car models. The company behind Mercedes-Benz, among others, raised its expectations for this year earlier after a strong first quarter, mainly due to increasing sales in China, the largest car market in the world.
